Among these tools the architecture video has over the years acquired more and more importance, and has become today a very widespread tool, one that is influencing ever more effectively development, information and communication processes. Squint/Opera, "Gardens by the Bay II" (architecture by Grant Associates, Wilkinson Eyre Architects), UK 2008, 2'41''. Gardens by the Bay II is the second film created by Squint/Opera for the Singapore Bay International Design Competition to depict the client's exuberant and ambitious scheme... Image ARCHIVE is the multimedia archive devoted to collecting, preserving and advancing architecture videos. Its main objective is to offer an adequate visibility to the most significant audiovisual documents so as to testify past, present and future architectural research and to enhance its circulation in the most appropriate manner. Image ARCHIVE has been associated with BEYOND MEDIA www.beyondmedia.it, the international festival of architecture and media, ever since its inception in Florence in 1997. BEYOND MEDIA is an internationally recognized event that focuses on the presentation of architecture videos to a wide and specialized audience. Over the years BEYOND MEDIA has established its role as an important occasion to reflect upon the relationships between architecture and its media of communication. Also it offers the possibility to explore audiovisual tools by allowing the convergence of different points of view on the topic. Langarita Navarro arquitectos, "Langarita-Navarro, the movie", ES 2008, 5'24'', A crazy party that ends in a funny "conga", a final fight between aliens from outer space, a failed picnic and a detective story: those are the main ingredients of this spectacular motion picture, where all the characters' stories are interwoven with amazing races and pursuits. The stages of the action are some of the architect’s latest works... Image ARCHIVE offers a transverse outlook onto architectural production thanks to the variety of works it collects. It is constantly updated thanks to the continuous monitoring of the most relevant areas of architectural production, in Italy and abroad, and it collects a whole range of documents such as videos, animations, digital models, interviews, multimedia. These documents are all different in nature, some having been produced by the architects themselves, independently or in collaboration with authors or companies specialized in the field of architectural visualization and of representation of contemporary architecture. Besides including the videos produced by world famous architects, the archive also collects works realized by emerging designers or by authors in search for new tools capable of communicating architectural projects. 2A+P/A (Gianfranco Bombaci, Matteo Costanzo) and Angelo Grasso, "Castrum", IT 2009, 6'30''. The Mayor of the City decided to create a new settlement. He did not want to conceive just a city plan, but to reveal a new emotion, a new political vision. He loved to repeat a sentence "the city is too important to put it into the hands of the architects"... Image ARCHIVE looks at the existing architectural archives as models; at the same time, it wants to preserve its unique nature which results from its very peculiar history. The very existence and growth of the Image ARCHIVE are closely related to the pluriennial experience of BEYOND MEDIA and to the daily contacts that Image maintains with architects and authors for enhancing the knowledge on their activity. Image ARCHIVE was intentionally created as hybrid in nature, as it doesn't just preserve such precious documents as the architecture videos, but it also works towards their development as effective tools which will facilitate a general awareness among all of the actors involved in the architectural scene. Image ARCHIVE is continuously updated and ready to receive video works made by architects and authors interested in submitting them as prelimiary proposals for the next edition of the BEYOND MEDIA festival.
