"The spaces on which the works of NIO architecten stand are probably the first to be somewhat surprised -Marco Brizzi wrote-. The snake that traverses them and that usually enters them amidst total indifference traces an indeterminate succession of environments that tend to elude the gaze of the architect. These are faceless spaces, the ones where more institutional forms of architecture do not have the words or means to express themselves. They are, however, unconscious sites of fertility, which Maurice Nio approaches stealthily, interpreting them with a genuinely analytic imagination, saving them from anonymity, and giving them an expressive dimension through unexpected thematizations. Unconscious protagonists of an unusual practice, these spaces acquire self-awareness in the precise moment in which they are narrated."

The SNAKE SPACE. NIO architecten exhibition, supplemented by a catalogue (p. 48, English) released by Mandragora www.mandragora.it, curated by Marco Brizzi is containing a presentation of the ten selected projects plus an essay by Maurice Nio. The project is part of the program of traveling exhibitions produced and organized by iMage EXHIBITIONS.
